Message about today’s Immigration Reform Rally from Maine People’s Alliance

Good Morning!

It is an amazing day for an immigration reform rally. Skies are blue. The attention of the Nation is upon us. We have heard from members of our community from across the state and have high expectations for a very successful event. We are very grateful for the support that we have been given by many of the our coalition groups and friends for all of their efforts to turnout the people of Maine to this event.
Those who would like to bring the children to the Portland MPA office between 10-12 to make posters for the rally.

MARCHERS WILL BEGIN MEETING IN PORTLAND AT 2:30 AT:
Union Station Plaza – St. John Street
and
Kennedy Park Green – Franklin Arterial and Cumberland Ave

We will begin marching at 3:00 and will make our way up & down Congress Street and meet at Congress Square Park next to the Eastland hotel for a full program of faith speakers, community leaders and musical performers from across the State. The program will begin at about 3:30 and end by 6:00pm.

We encourage everyone to bring water, snacks, hats, sunscreen, banners, posters & flags. The city Metro bus runs the length of the march route and will be able to return you to your vehicles after the festivities of the day have ended.

This is an important day for our State, and an opportunity for us to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with ALL members of our community in solidarity! Let’s send a strong message to our Senators and the Nation that Maine WILL NOT follow in the footsteps of Arizona on immigration policy.

WE WANT COMPREHENSIVE AND FAIR IMMIGRATION REFORM NOW!!!!!

Best to you all! Be safe, Be proud, HAVE FUN!
Char
