Friday, March 26 th from 5-9 PM at The Portland Company, 58 Fore Street in Portland.
Featuring:

CeleSoirée is a celebration of Maine’s immigrant communities and the valuable contributions they make to the economic, political and cultural life of Maine. ILAP is dedicated to improving the lives of Maine’s immigrants by providing expert legal assistance and advocacy. Proceeds raised will support ILAP’s direct legal services program, education and outreach program, and impact project.

En el estado más blanco en la nación, los inmigrantes recientes luchan entre ser visible y a desaparecersen en las sombras. Ya sea por decisión consciente o destino, Maine es su pueblo ahora. Esta exposición explora los desafíos de los miembros de las comunidades de inmigrantes diversas y los triunfos. Procedentes de países muy variados, todos ellos han tenido las experiencias de cambio y la necesidad de adaptarse a las nuevas realidades. Algunos disfrutan posiciones privilegiadas como, cineastas, artistas y profesionales o sabios en su patria sólo para hacer frente a despectivo observaciones, la discriminación y el subempleo en Maine. A pesar de desafíos, muchos han adoptado la oportunidad de convertirse en líderes y emprendedores. Aunque la inmigración tiene una historia con más de cinco siglos en los Estados Unidos, con la facilidad de viajes internacionales y las comunicaciones modernas, experiencias recientes han cambiado drásticamente en los últimos 30 a 40años.
